I wasn’t a copy of Green on the Cape, but here’s Liam Clancy singing the Shan Van Vocht.
The term Shan Van Vocht is an Anglicization of Sean Bhean Bhocht, which means “poor old woman.” The Sean Bhean Bhocht is frequently used as a personification for Ireland itself in many songs, poems, plays, and other literature.  If you’re familiar with the song “Four Green Fields,” the old woman is another representation of the archetypal character.
